Cody Mallula Obituary, LEXINGTON, Neb. — Cody Mallula, a 16-year-old from Geneva, Nebraska, has died following a rollover crash on Highway 30 west of Lexington. His death has left family, friends and members of the Geneva community mourning the loss of a young life.
According to the Dawson County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were initially alerted to a vehicle that had been reported stolen from the North Platte area. The vehicle was later located after it was reportedly seen traveling eastbound on Highway 30.
Authorities attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver did not pull over. The pursuit continued through Cozad before deputies disengaged from the pursuit.
Only minutes later, authorities received a report involving a matching vehicle that had rolled over on Highway 30 west of Lexington. Deputies responded to the crash scene to assess the situation and provide assistance.
When deputies arrived, Cody had been ejected from the vehicle. Life-saving efforts were attempted at the scene, but the 16-year-old was pronounced dead.
Cody’s death represents a profound loss for those who knew him. At 16, he was a young member of the Geneva community whose life was cut short following the tragic sequence of events on Highway 30.
