Cristian Garcia Tepixtle Obituary, DURHAM, N.C. — Cristian Garcia Tepixtle, 30, of Durham, North Carolina, lost her life following an early-morning crash along Umstead Road on Saturday, August 29, 2026.
According to the Durham Police Department, the crash was reported shortly after 3:30 a.m. near the intersection of Umstead Road and Riverdale Drive, in the area of the Eno River. Cristian was driving a 2018 Ford Edge eastbound on Umstead Road when the SUV left the roadway before reaching the intersection.
Police said the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a raised driveway. The impact caused the SUV to become airborne before it crashed into a tree and subsequently struck a telephone pole.
Cristian suffered fatal injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 30 years old. Two passengers were also inside the SUV and were injured in the crash. One passenger was critically injured, while both were transported to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
