Elijah Blue Baumann, 24, of Moorhead, Minnesota, has died following injuries sustained in a serious multi-vehicle collision on University Drive in Fargo.
Baumann died on September 16, 2026, at Essentia Hospital in Fargo, according to his funeral-home obituary. His death came three days after the September 13 crash that left several people injured.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol said the events began when a Cass County deputy observed Baumann’s Chrysler traveling at approximately 120 mph in a 45-mph zone near 76th Avenue South. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle but chose not to pursue it because of safety concerns.
Authorities later reported that the Chrysler was traveling in the wrong direction on University Drive when it struck a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and subsequently collided with a Mercedes-Benz. Baumann was not wearing a seat belt, according to the Highway Patrol.
The motorcycle’s driver, 19-year-old Isaac Putney of Fargo, suffered life-threatening injuries. Two passengers in Baumann’s vehicle were also injured, while the driver of the Mercedes-Benz was not injured.
