Landen Englund and Princeton Welty Obituary, Marinette County, Wis. — Landen Englund, 16, of Menominee, Michigan, and Princeton Welty, 17, of Crivitz, Wisconsin, died following a vehicle crash in the Town of Lake on Saturday night. The collision occurred on Highway G near Loomis Road, per to authorities.
The crash was stated shortly before 11 p.m. after an iPhone crash notification alerted emergency dispatchers to the area. Another person also contacted authorities to account the serious collision, prompting emergency responders to the scene.
Per to investigators, Englund was driving south on Highway G when the vehicle failed to navigate a curve, left the roadway and entered a ditch before striking a tree. Englund passed away as a result of the crash. Welty, who was riding in the front passenger seat, also passed away.
Two other occupants of the vehicle suffered serious injuries and were transported to a hospital for treatment. Authorities reported that one of the hurt occupants was thrown from the vehicle during the collision.
The Marinette County Sheriff’s Office and the Marinette County Medical Examiner’s Office are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash. Agencies believe speed was a factor. Several surrounding agencies also responded to the scene and assisted with the emergency reaction.
The deaths of Englund and Welty have left their families, friends and others who knew them mourning the loss of two teenagers whose lives ended at young ages. Englund was 16, while Welty was 17, and both had many years ahead of them.
