Oliver “Oli” Forlines Obituary, NELSON COUNTY, Va. — Oliver “Oli” Forlines, a beloved 12-year-old from the Lovingston area, passed away on August 26, 2026, leaving his family, friends, teachers, church community and others mourning the loss of a young life remembered for its kindness, curiosity and promise.
Born on May 7, 2014, Oliver was remembered by those close to him as a gentle and compassionate child who found joy in discovering the world around him. His many interests reflected his natural curiosity and included building with Legos, reading, soccer, gaming, nature, rocks, bugs, science, hiking, cooking, crafting and 3-D printing.
Oliver was described as someone who enjoyed understanding how things worked and approached new experiences with an eagerness to learn. Those who knew him also remembered his thoughtful personality and his concern for others. He was known for giving small gifts or offering encouragement simply to brighten someone’s day.
His family is now navigating the difficult loss of a young son and brother. Oliver’s grandparents have asked for prayers for his parents, Jonathan Forlines and Gloria Hall, and his younger brother, Elisha, known as Eli. Oliver and Eli reportedly shared a close bond, spending time together building, playing outside, gaming and talking.
Oliver was also active in his faith and local community. He was described as a devoted follower of Christ and a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston, where he participated in the church’s youth ministry. A funeral service celebrating Oliver’s life is scheduled for September 5 at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston, according to the published obituary report. In keeping with his love of collecting rocks and his appreciation for nature, attendees have been invited to bring a rock that can become part of a memorial garden created in his honor.
