Sawyer Jordan Death Report: LSU Football Coach’s Obituary Claims Remain Unconfirmed

BATON ROUGE, La. — Reports and online searches claiming that LSU football coach Sawyer Jordan has died have circulated, but there is currently no confirmed death announcement supporting those claims.

LSU’s official athletics website currently lists Jordan as the Tigers’ Inside Wide Receivers coach for the 2026 season. The university’s staff directory and football roster also continue to identify him in that position.

Jordan, a native of Conway, South Carolina, entered his first season at LSU after spending two seasons at Ole Miss. He joined the Tigers after working as an assistant tight ends coach under Lane Kiffin during a highly successful period for the Rebels.

During Jordan’s time at Ole Miss, the Rebels won 23 games over two seasons, including a school-record 13 victories in 2025. Ole Miss also advanced to the College Football Playoff semifinals that season. The program ranked among the nation’s most productive offenses during Jordan’s tenure.

Before Ole Miss, Jordan worked as an offensive analyst at Coastal Carolina in 2023. He previously spent the 2020 through 2022 seasons at South Florida, including time as a graduate assistant and offensive analyst.

Jordan began his coaching career at Clemson in 2013 as an offensive student assistant. During his five years with the Tigers, Clemson won the College Football Playoff National Championship in 2016 and captured three consecutive ACC championships from 2015 through 2017. He later joined Louisiana-Lafayette as a quality control coach before earning his bachelor’s degree in secondary education with a focus on mathematics from Clemson in 2018.

At this time, no date of death, cause of death, funeral announcement or official LSU statement confirming Jordan’s death has been identified. Any obituary or social media post claiming that the coach has died should therefore be treated as unverified unless it is supported by an authoritative announcement from LSU, his family or another reliable source.
