Johnny Reeves and Nicole Massey Obituary, ATTALA COUNTY, Miss. — An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with the deaths of Johnny Ray Reeves II, 38, and Nicole Massey, 39, who were found deceased inside a home in Attala County on Sunday, August 30, 2026.
Authorities identified the suspect as Isaiah Reeves, 18, who is the nephew of Johnny Ray Reeves II. The circumstances surrounding the deaths remain under investigation, and officials have not released details about what investigators believe occurred inside the residence.
According to the Attala County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the home at approximately 4:58 p.m. Sunday after an individual arrived at the residence and discovered a man and woman unresponsive inside. Deputies and emergency medical personnel responded and found both individuals deceased.
Attala County Coroner Sam Bell identified the victims as Johnny Reeves II and Nicole Massey. Their causes of death have not yet been determined. The bodies were transported to the Mississippi State Crime Laboratory for autopsies as investigators work to establish the circumstances and causes of their deaths.
According to Attala County Sheriff Curtis Pope, Isaiah Reeves voluntarily went to the Attala County Sheriff’s Office on Monday, August 31, accompanied by his attorney. He was subsequently arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder.
Reeves is being held at the Leake County Correctional Facility, where his bond has been set at $2 million. Authorities have not released additional information regarding a possible motive or what may have led to the deaths.
The Attala County Sheriff’s Office and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation are continuing to investigate the double homicide. Investigators are expected to consider autopsy findings, forensic evidence and other information collected during the investigation as they work to establish what happened.
The investigation remains active, and authorities may release additional information as the case develops. Isaiah Reeves is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
