Anthony Hanshew Obituary: Salem, Illinois – 20-Year-Old Dies After Motorcycle-SUV Collision

Anthony Hanshew Obituary, SALEM, Ill. — Anthony Hanshew, 20, of Salem, Illinois, died Tuesday evening, October 6, following a motorcycle-SUV collision at the intersection of Route 37 and Tonti Road on the north side of Salem.

According to preliminary information released by the Illinois State Police, the crash was reported at approximately 8:39 p.m. Tuesday. Hanshew was traveling northbound on Route 37 on a motorcycle when it collided with an SUV traveling eastbound on Tonti Road.

The collision caused Hanshew to be ejected from the motorcycle, according to the Marion County Coroner’s Office. He was thrown into a nearby field alongside the roadway following the impact.

Law enforcement requested the Marion County Coroner’s Office at the scene. Marion County Coroner Claude Howell pronounced Hanshew dead. The preliminary cause of death was listed as blunt force trauma to the head.

The crash also injured the driver of the SUV and two passengers. Illinois State Police said all three were transported to an area hospital for medical treatment. Their names and conditions have not been released.
