Maggie Collins and Kathy Binkley Obituary, GREENSBORO, N.C. — The Carolinas Golf community is mourning the tragic passing of Maggie Collins and Kathy Binkley, longtime friends, supporters of the Carolinas Golf Association (CGA), and dedicated advocates for women’s golf. The two women passed away this week in Greensboro, leaving friends and fellow people of the golf community remembering their lasting contributions to the sport.
Kathy Binkley was a familiar and respected presence at CGA events for decades. She regularly competed in team matches and one-day events and remained actively involved in the Carolinas golf local area throughout the years.
Beyond her participation on the course, Binkley served on the North Carolina Women’s Golf Association (NCWGA) Board. Her long-standing involvement reflected her commitment to women’s golf and to supporting opportunities for players throughout the Carolinas.
Maggie Collins was also a familiar face at CGA events and a passionate supporter of the game for a number of years. Her friendship with Binkley and their shared connection to Carolinas golf made both women valued people of a community that is now grieving their loss.
The CGA community has extended its thoughts to the families of Collins and Binkley, as well as to the numerous friends and fellow golfers who knew and loved them. Their years of involvement assisted make them recognizable and appreciated figures within the Carolinas golf public.
A memorial service for Binkley is scheduled for Sunday at 3:00 p.m. at Buffalo Presbyterian Church in Greensboro. Additional memorial information for Collins has not yet been released, with updates expected when details become available.
In accordance with Binkley’s family’s wishes, memorial donations may be made to the Carolinas Golf Foundation and earmarked for junior girls’ golf. The request reflects her connection to the sport and the continued support of opportunities for young female golfers.
